Founder, Tended Collective

Hi, I'm Sharon Michaels.

Educator  ·  School Leader  ·  Founder

"Whether you've arrived after a hard school year, in search of community, or simply because your spirit needs tending — you belong here."

Why I built this

I created Tended Collective out of necessity.

Too often, educators are expected to carry the emotional weight of schools in silence — between bells, meetings, and demands that never stop coming. We're praised for our resilience without ever being given a moment to exhale.

As a school leader, I saw what happened when educators didn't have space to process what they carried. I felt it myself. And I knew that what we needed wasn't a motivational poster or a one-day workshop — it was something real. Something that fit inside the actual demands of school life.

This is that something.

Tended Collective exists because your feelings matter. Because healing is possible. And because it is most powerful when done in community.

About Tended Collective

Rooted in justice. Built on care.

Tended Collective is a wellness organization committed to supporting the emotional, mental, and psychological well-being of K–12 educators.

We create healing spaces, tools, and programming that honor the lived experiences of educators — especially those navigating grief, burnout, and the harm that systems can cause.

Well-being is not an add-on. It is infrastructure. And every educator deserves access to it.

What we believe
Teaching is emotional work.
Burnout is a systems issue, not a personal failure.
School culture determines educator sustainability.
Healing spaces are leadership strategy.
Educators deserve room to process what they carry.

This is your space to breathe again.
